Centerless grinding is a precision finishing process often used for small-diameter tubing, including stainless steel, hypodermic, or other specialty tube. Unlike traditional cylindrical grinding, where the workpiece is held between centers or in a chuck, centerless grinding supports the tube between a grinding wheel, a regulating wheel, and a work rest blade.

Tolerances on the OD of a material can be held as tight as ± .0002 for most applications.
Custom Tube Sizes – Quick Turnaround
Custom tube sizes can be fabricated by selecting a target ID, with a larger starting OD, then centerless grinding the OD down within the target OD tolerance. Using this method, NEST is able to provide tubing in a quicker typical turnaround and better surface finishes, than most re-drawing processes.
Centerless ground material and parts are fabricated upon request from stock material.
