Standard fractional tubing is most commonly welded or drawn seamless. Welded tubing is frequently used in commercial and industrial applications, while seamless tubing is used in applications that require smooth ID finishes.
Fractional tubing is different from hypodermic tubing in how it’s measured. Fractional sizes are based on the OD and wall thickness, with an acceptable variation on the wall thickness determined by the standards the tubing mill complies with.
